Meet Your Librarians

About Mr. Thompson

I took this picture when I visited the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts!

Hello there! My name is Mr. Thompson, but I pity the fool who doesn’t call me Mr. T. It’s my pleasure to serve as your school librarian!

It’s already my second year at Loring Flemming Elementary. (I think that means I’m officially a first grader!) I became a school librarian because I love learning and helping people. Now I get to spend every day helping people learn! I love learning more about books, media, technology, and citizenship with all of my students.

Before I was a school librarian, I worked as a public librarian. Before I worked as a public librarian, I worked for companies that publish books. Before I worked for companies that publish books, I worked in a book store, and before I worked in a book store, I worked in a Mexican restaurant. Before I worked in a Mexican restaurant, I was protected by child labor laws.

When I’m not at school, I like to read and write; look at and make art; listen to music, podcasts, and audiobooks; watch videos online and on TV; visit parks and beaches; go for long bike rides, medium walks, and short jogs; do pushups (at least 300 per day!) and lift weights; cook and clean; and, most importantly, spend time with my family and friends. Sometimes I play guitar and sometimes I play video games, but I usually just play outside.

I live with my wife, Dr. Wiesner. She’s a historian—a specially trained expert who researches, writes about, and teaches history—who works with college students in New York.

Dr. Wiesner and I have one cat. Her name is Luna, and she’s a piebald. That means she has black and white fur—she is not bald, nor is she made of pie. (This summer Luna celebrated her seventh birthday, so I think she’s a first grader like me.)

I could go on, but I’d rather talk to everybody in school. I can’t wait to see you there!

Hello, my name is Mrs. Tina Catroppa. I am the Librarian Assistant at Loring Flemming Elementary School. I was born and raised in South Philadelphia and I now reside in New Jersey.

I am married with two adult children and we have a miniature Dachshund dog named Lucy! We have lived in Gloucester Township for the past 20 years.

In 2003, I began working for Gloucester Township Public Schools. I worked at Blackwood Elementary School in Blackwood, NJ as a One-to-One Aide. In 2007, I began my employment at Loring Flemming School as an Office Aide. I have since transferred to the Loring Flemming Library where I’ve worked for the past 10 years.

I am a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan. Some things I enjoy are photography, reading, cooking, traveling, and listening to all kinds of music.

Looking forward to a great and exciting school year ahead!

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!” —Dr. Seuss

Howdy, there! The Loring Flemming Library website was retired on July 1, 2022. It remains online as both a portfolio piece and a professional courtesy. Though these resources are no longer actively maintained, visitors are encouraged to explore and enjoy them to the fullest. Mr. T hopes you enjoy your stay!
